A desperately ill Scot was last night waiting for news of a miracle drug that could change her life.
Hailey Mann, 24, has advanced cystic fibrosis and believes taking Kaftrio will stabilise the condition long enough for her to get a lung transplant.
The drug will soon be available on the NHS in Scotland but she fears she won’t live the few weeks it will take to get a European Medicines Agency licence.
After we highlighted her case, NHS Grampian said it had sent paperwork to the drug company Vertex a day or two before.
Vertex said she has to sign a data protection form before any decision on her case can be made. As she waited for the form to arrive, Hailey said: “I am on tenterhooks all the time.”
