Scot stunned after curious pod of dolphins swim alongside his boat near Stonehaven

An amazing video has shown the moment a Scots fisherman was surprised by a pod of dolphins frolicking in the sea next to his boat.

Brian McQueen captured the incredible footage when he was fishing off the coast of Stonehaven in Aberdeenshire on Saturday, June 19.

The stunned Scot was able to watch on as the dolphins swam on either side of his boat as they follow each other through the sea.

Several dolphins can be seen continuously leaping out of the dark grey water and splashing as they re-enter.

One dolphin is shown swimming alongside the boat and glides in-and-out of the water as the rest of the pod breach in the background.

At least six dolphins were spotted splashing in-and-out of the choppy water as Brian continued to film.

Brian posted the video to Facebook writing: “Dolphins going nuts at Stonehaven this morning.

"Best ever.”

The post has now received over 40,000 views and hundreds of comments from users who loved the footage.

Alison McElhinney said: “Thanks for sharing these amazing creatures!"

While Alexander Simpson added: “Brilliant so relaxing.”

Sandra Dolling posted: “Amazing I could watch this all day.”

Speaking about the wonderful clip, Brian said: “They came up alongside the boat and started coming to the surface in groups of four.

"Then one dominant dolphin started jumping very high out of the water.

“It was very impressive.

“We often see them whilst out on my boat away fishing.

"Sometimes we have been surrounded by them.

“You feel so privileged to be able to see them in their own environment and to share some of their space and time.

“I tend to get carried away a little bit when I see them.”
