Scot rushed to hospital following attack by Englishman in Spanish bar after Euro final

Travel company TUI has begun a formal investigation after an incident in a Spanish bar where a Scot was left covered in blood in an attack by an Englishman.

The incident occurred immediately after England lost the Euro 2020 final to Italy's national team, which the two men were watching in the bar of the Holiday Village Seaview Hotel.

As reported by the Daily Record, the Englishman reportedly slashed the Scot across his forehead.

He was immediately rushed to hospital for treatment.

TUI have said they are "very concerned" about the attack, which happened in full view of over 100 other holidaymakers.

An eyewitness told the Daily Record: "The English guy stood up, walked over to the victim and used something to slash him across his forehead.

"Instantly the blood literally was everywhere.

"It covered the table, chairs and the victim’s family.

"All the children were screaming, including my own.

"I was 20 meters roughly from where the victim was sitting and you could see that during the game there was some banter, all of which seemed to be good natured.

"Straight after the game something seemed to have been said between the two, however they were still sitting with their own families.

"He slashed him across the forehead as the victim sat with his wife and children next to him.

"At this point there were easily over one hundred people still in the bar area, including kids aged from three to four, and upwards.

"The suspect disappeared into the hotel and his family also disappeared in the chaos.

"The victim's wife was at reception after it happened and was in floods of tears.

"My own five-year-old witnessed it, as did my 11-year-old, both of whom couldn’t sleep.

"My five-year-old was still crying as she was lying in bed.

"There were 200 to 300 hundred people there, the majority of whom were English families and were understandably excited.

"The TUI entertainment team were working them into a frenzy, even prior to kick off, which you could start to feel was the last thing that was needed.

"TUI can’t be held accountable for the behaviour, however the reps certainly didn’t need to be whipping an already excitable crowd into a frenzy before the match.

"It added fuel to the fire."

It's understood a suspect was arrested and was due to appear in a Spanish court in connection with the assault.
