Scot not seen since leaving Glasgow Central Station on Christmas Eve

A search has been launched for a Scot who hasn't been seen since leaving Glasgow Central Station on Christmas Eve.

Richard Hay has been reported missing from his home in Irvine, North Ayrshire and police are growing 'increasingly concerned'.

He was last seen leaving Central Station at around 1.30pm on Christmas Eve by a friend who had made arrangements to meet up with 34-year-old Richard late in the day.

However, Richard didn't show up nor did he visit his family over the Christmas weekend.

Richard is described as being around 5ft 9inches in height with brown cropped hair and police are now urging anyone with information to come forward.

An appeal shared by the Ayrshire Police Division says: "We are appealing for information that may assist us in tracing Richard Hay who has been reported missing from his home address in Irvine.

"Enquiries reveal that Richard Hay, 34, was last seen leaving Glasgow Central Station at approximately 1.30pm on Christmas Eve (Friday the 24th December) by a friend and had made arrangements to meet up again later that day after doing some Christmas shopping. However he failed to attend that meeting or visit his family over the Christmas weekend.

"Richard is described as being around 5ft 9inches in height with brown cropped hair."

Sgt Carswell of Irvine Police Office said: “We’re increasingly concerned that Richard has not contacted his family over the last few days and ask that if you know him, or his current whereabouts please contact 101 quoting incident number 1402 of 26/12, thank you.”

UPDATE: A police statement released on Tuesday (December 28) confirmed that Richard Hay has been traced safe and well. Officers thanked the public for their response to the appeal.
