Scot loses out on life-changing £1m EuroMillions prize after ticket goes unclaimed

A would-be Scots millionaire has lost out on their life-changing EuroMillions prize after failing to claim it within six months.

The £1,000,000 Millionaire Maker prize was won by a punter who bought a ticket in the East Lothian area in June.

But the mystery winner appears to be unaware of the windfall and failed to collect their prize before the 180 day deadline.

Camelot said the ticketholder had until midnight on Wednesday to come forward before losing out on the cash, which will help find lottery projects across the UK.

Andy Carter, Senior Winners’ Advisor at The National Lottery, said they tried “very hard” to source the winner.

He said: “Unfortunately, I can confirm that the ticket-holder did not come forward within the deadline to claim their prize and has now sadly missed out on this substantial amount of money.

“To avoid this unfortunate situation happening again, I would urge all National Lottery players to check their tickets on a regular basis.

“We tried very hard to find the ticket-holder and it’s a real shame that they have missed out, but there is still one winner – the nation.

“This money, and all the interest earned over the 180 days, will now go to benefit projects all over the UK funded by The National Lottery.”

Camelot said over 1,050 projects have received National Lottery funding in East Lothian since The National Lottery began in 1994.
