Scot Kirsty Gallacher quits as host of Soccer Aid after ten years

Scots telly presenter Kirsty Gallacher has stepped down from co-host of Soccer Aid after ten years.

Former Sky Sports presenter Kirsty, who hosted the show alongside Dermot O'Leary said she was stepping down now as it "feels like the right time".

The 45-year-old also revealed she will be taking part in a brand new project which would clash with her commitments on the show.

Kirsty told our sister paper The Mirror: "I’ve loved every minute of my experience on Soccer Aid, it’s been fabulous to work with Dermot, such an amazing team and the amazing players that have kindly given up their time to play.

"We’ve raised an incredible amount of money over the years but I can confirm I’m stepping down – it feels like the right time after ten years and following a record breaking year in 2020 and excitingly I’ve got a new project that will prevent me from taking part.

"I will take away many fond memories and feel personally proud that in addition to the money raised from the match, myself and Rachel Riley also raised £160k for Unicef on The Chase – a charity that will always remain close to my heart."

An ITV spokeswoman added: "Kirsty Gallacher will be stepping down from Soccer Aid ahead of this year's tournament.

Everyone at ITV and Soccer Aid would like to thank her for her ten years with the event and we hope to work with her again in the future."

Mum of two Kirsty who is dating a mystery man, recently said she would like to have another baby.

She split from her ex-husband, retired rugby player Paul Sampson, 43, in 2015 after a 15-year relationship and said recently: "I wouldn't put anything past having another child… I'd obviously want to do it sooner rather than later, but I toy with it right now."

She has hosted the Soccer Aid match, which is between teams of celebs, alongside Dermot, 47, since 2010 and helped to raise £38million for children's charity Unicef since it first launched in 2006.

Last year, the match was hosted at Old Trafford with the England quad captained by Olly Murs, 36, and co-managed by Wayne Rooney.
