Scot drops wallet in sea off Bute but his brother saves day on mainland four miles away

A man has been reunited with his wallet after he lost it on an island and it turned up on a beach – close to where his brother was on holiday.

Stewart Durham, 70, was walking back from a pub when he lost his wallet and it ended up in the sea.

He never expected to see it again, so he cancelled all the cards and was resigned to losing the £75 inside.

But a dog walker found it washed up four miles away on the mainland – and Stewart’s brother, Mike, 68, saw a post about it on Facebook.

Stewart, from Stevenston, Ayrshire, was thrilled to be reunited with his belongings after losing them at Port Bannatyne on Bute.

The black wallet washed up at Toward Point, near Dunoon, Argyll.

He said: “It was an  absolute surprise, I never expected to see it again.”
