Scot charged with murder of Dutch criminal shot dead outside sex club

A Scottish man has appeared in court charged with the murder of a Dutch criminal and crime writer in 2016.

Christopher Hughes was detained by Police Scotland under a European Arrest Warrant in connection with the death of Martin Kok in the Netherlands.

The 31-year-old, from Glasgow, appeared at the city's sheriff court on Friday charged with murder as well as a number of serious organised crime offences in Scotland.

He made no plea and was held in custody, with another court appearance due within eight days.

Kok, 49, was gunned down in December 2016 after leaving the Boccaccio sex club in the town of Laren.

Kok had previously served time in jail for two killings.

A photo taken on the night of his death showed him lounging on a bed inside the sex club wearing only black pants and giving a double thumbs-up to the camera.

When he was buried, his coffin was carried by four glamorous young women and champagne was served during the service.
