Scot called ex 'waste of a human' then threatened to slash his arms over cheating fears

A man has been jailed after ranting "you're a waste of a human" after questioning the faithfulness of his girlfriend.

David Kennedy, 33, had been asleep with his partner Connie Stevenson and woke to find her using a messaging app on her phone.

Falkirk Sheriff Court was told he "demanded" to know who she was contacting.

Prosecutor India MacLean said: "This led to an argument, and Mr Kennedy made a comment to Miss Stevenson saying she was 'a waste of a life'.

"He then left the flat but began texting her, saying, 'you're a waste of a human' and 'I'm away to slash my arms and I'll send you a picture, b****'.

"He also said, 'I'm recording that argument on my camera. You're lucky I didn't punch you'. Miss Stevenson then contacted the police and the accused was arrested."

Kennedy, of Grangemouth, pleaded guilty to behaving in a threatening and abusive manner to Miss Stevenson in her flat in Stevenson Street, also Grangemouth, in the incident on July 26th 2019 - an offence aggravated by involving domestic abuse.

Solicitor Lynn Swan, defending, told the court on Thursday April, 8: "He had discovered a text message that suggested Miss Stevenson had not been as faithful as he would have hoped for. Their relationship is over."

After hearing that Kennedy had failed to keep to the terms of a community based disposal, Sheriff Derek Livingston jailed him for three months.

He also imposed a non-harassment order, preventing him from contacting Miss Stevenson for year.

Kennedy showed no emotion as he was handcuffed and led to the cells.
