Scooter driver seriously injured in Lake View crash

A scooter driver was seriously injured Sunday in a crash in Lake View on the North Side.

The scooter was side-swiped by a vehicle about 7:35 p.m. in the 2500 block of West Belmont Avenue, according to Chicago fire officials and police.

Aa 49-year-old man driving the scooter, was taken to Illinois Masonic Medical Center in serious-to-critical condition, officials said.

Chicago police did not immediately respond to a request for additional details.
