Scooby Doo movie casts Zac Efron and Amanda Seyfried in voice roles

Scooby Doo is making his animated comeback in a new movie.

Returning to his original format after a series of live-action movies, the cartoon dog who solves spooky mysteries will now feature some big names.

The new movie, entitled Scoob, will star both Zac Efron and Amanda Seyfried, reports Deadline.

The Greatest Showman star Efron will play blonde hunk Fred, while Mamma Mia actress Seyfried will play red-haired Daphne.

Comedic actor Will Forte will portray Scoob's best friend Shaggy, while Jane the Virgin actress Gina Rodriguez will play whip-smart Velma.

The film's creepy antagonist Captain Caveman will be played by Tracy Morgan.

Original Scooby voice Frank Weller will reprise his classic role for the film.

Scoob will be directed by Tony Cervone.

The previous live-action films Scooby Doo: The Movie and Scooby Doo 2: Monsters Unleashed starred Freddie Prinze Jr. as Fred, Sarah Michelle Gellar as Daphne, Linda Cardellini as Velma and Matthew Lillard as Shaggy.

The two films received mixed to negative reviews from critics.

We will have to wait and see how this turns out!

Zac Efron is winning plaudits at present for his turn as infamous serial killer Ted Bundy in upcoming true crime film Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil, and Vile.

Quite the difference between the beloved Hanna-Barbera cartoon character and the terrifying killer.

Will he be as good as Fred?

Scoob is released in cinemas in May 2020.
