Scone Palace event for dogs and owners to return in September

There was fur-nomenal news for Perthshire dog lovers last week after it was announced that ‘Paws at the Palace’ was returning.

The canine carnival will raise the woof in the grounds of Scone Palace on September 5 with hundreds of punters and their pooches expected.

The inaugural event was held in 2019 and was heralded as a huge success, with over 2000 descending to the grounds on a sun-soaked June 30.

Four-legged friends were able to sink their teeth into dog parades, agility classes and a range of stalls with dog-related gifts and treats.

Sadly, last year’s event had to be put on paws due to the COVID pandemic.

Taking the lead for the event is Katie McCandless-Thomas, from Dog Friendly Perthshire and Missing Pets Perth and Kinross, who was delighted to announce its return.

“[We are] so excited to announce after a very important meeting today that Paws in the Palace is still taking place on September 5, 2021,” she said.

“We are sorry that there hasn’t been many updates prior to this but please understand due to certain restrictions with COVID that we have had to wait and see how we can manage larger events.

“Paws at the Palace is the largest event aimed just for dogs in Scotland. We aim to make sure your dog has the most paw-some day out with their humans.

“There will be a wide selection of stalls especially for dogs, a dog fun show, doggy agility, a scurry and more.

“Because we were waiting to see if there would be restrictions for the event we still have some spaces for stalls.

“If you sell anything doggy related like leads, collars, beds, toys, treats, artwork etc then please get in touch as we would love for you to be part of the day.

“Can all applications for stalls please be in by July 31.

“This event was a huge success previously.

“Sadly, understandably, we had to cancel last year’s event so we are so excited that this year it can go ahead.’’
