Scientists use ping pong balls and mouse traps to show importance of social distancing

Scientists have used ping pong balls and mouse traps to demonstrate the importance of social distancing during the worldwide coronavirus pandemic.

The video was created by Ohio Department of Health, and uses ping pong balls and mouse traps to show the importance of social distancing.

In the video, a floor full of mousetraps can be seen, each with a ping pong ball carefully placed on it.

Another ping pong ball is then dropped on the floor, leading to a cascade of the traps dramatically being set off.

However, in another scene, a ping pong ball is carefully bounced between the traps, meaning that none of them are set off.

A simple caption then reads: “Stop the spread. Social distancing works.”

While the video is very simple, it’s been highly praised by viewers, who have been impressed with the effective messaging.

One user commented: “Wow... Not easy to recall such a creative and strong message as this one during my whole career in the advertising field. Got goosebumps!”

Another added: “Brilliant in its simplicity. Stronger than words.”

And one joked: "I bet this anti-virus video goes viral."
