Scientists urge Boris Johnson to enact Covid 'Plan B' now - let us know what you think

Scientists have issued a grave warning to Prime Minister Boris Johnson, urging him to enact Covid 'Plan B' now.

The Scientific Advisory Group for Emergencies (Sage) has advised the government to bring back certain measures if Britain wants to curb soaring Covid cases as we enter the winter months.

Sage says Government advice to work from home would be the most effective policy in tackling the current wave, compared to compulsory mask-wearing and Covid passports.

“Modelling suggests that the stringency of measures required to control transmission of a growing epidemic is increased by a faster doubling time," Sage stated.

“In the event of increasing case rates, earlier intervention would reduce the need for more stringent, disruptive, and longer-lasting measures.”

Bereaved families who lost loved ones to the virus have also called for the PM to trigger Plan B now.

Campaign group Covid Families For Justice have urged Boris Johnson to not "repeat your mistakes" and "jeopardise the lives of people across the country" this festive season.

They also warned ministers that "sticking their heads in the sand" as the virus continues to spread may leave Britain in another "Christmas catastrophe".
