A video has been released demonstrating how easily a coronavirus cough could pass through the air.
The UK is currently on lockdown as the COVID-19 outbreak continues.
As of 9am on April 9, 243,421 people have been tested of which 65,077 tested positive.
And of those hospitalised in the UK who tested positive for coronavirus, 7,978 have sadly died.
But researchers in Finland shows have produced a video showing how the virus could still hang in the air for 'several minutes', reports Wales Online.
Researchers from Aalto University created the 3D model to look at how small respiratory particles are transported in the air after coughing, sneezing, and talking.
The animation shows a person coughing in a supermarket aisle, before the particles quickly spread to other aisles in the shop.
The researchers modelled the airborne movement of aerosol particles smaller than 20 micrometres.
For a dry cough, which is a typical symptom of the current coronavirus, the particle size is typically less than 15 micrometres.
The researchers added that extremely small particles of this size do not sink on the floor, but instead, move along in the air currents or remain floating in the same place.
Aalto University Assistant Professor Ville Vuorinen said: "Someone infected by the coronavirus, can cough and walk away, but then leave behind extremely small aerosol particles carrying the coronavirus. These particles could then end up in the respiratory tract of others in the vicinity."
Jussi Sane, Chief Specialist at the Finnish Institute for Health and Welfare added: "Stay at home if you are unwell and maintain physical distance with everyone. The instructions also include coughing into your sleeve or a tissue and taking care of good hand hygiene."
