Science Weekly: Captain Jack at CERN

It's our most vertical show yet. Really.

In this week's Science Weekly, we go behind the scenes at CERN in Geneva with Torchwood's Captain Jack (aka John Barrowman) and particle physicist and friend of the pod, Dr Brian Cox. We get an amazing peek at the 27km-long Large Hadron Collider particle accelerator, which, when it's switched on later this year, will re-create the conditions of the universe less than a billionth of a second after the Big Bang, and in so doing, will open up a whole new field of research for scientists to pour over.

Also in the show, we discuss the controversial attempts to get homeopathy taken off the NHS with David Colquhoun, professor of pharmacology at UCL; the dangers (exaggerated or otherwise) of WiFi; how a magnetic field can stimulate the brain; and the virgin birth of a bonnethead shark - though you will have to wait a little longer for the second coming of the shark christ.
