Sci-fi daft couple tie the knot in unique Star Wars themed wedding

The force is strong with this sci-fi mad couple - after they tied the knot with a Star Wars themed wedding.

Chris Stack, 44, stunned family and friends after he said his vows while dressed as Darth Vader.

Bride Valerie, 44, decided for a more traditional white dress but walked down the aisle to the sound of the Imperial Death March.

The wacky couple were married on Saturday (4/5) - known as Star Wars day due to the play on the catchphrase 'May the Fourth be With You'.

The pair's special occasion had a Star Wars theme running throughout, complete with a page boys dressed as C-3P0 and Darth Maul.

Chris and Val tied the knot at the parish church of St Mary Magdalene in Newark, Notts., to the theme tune from the iconic movie franchise.

Even the curate Reverend Chris Lee got in on the act by dressing up as a Jedi Knight for the out of this world ceremony.

Dad-of-one Chris, of Newark, has been a fan of the hit film series since he watched Return of the Jedi when he was six-years-old with his dad.

He said: "I've been a massive fan of the films since I was little and it was something that I always wanted to do.

"We thought it would be something a bit different. I think it was a pretty unique wedding and everyone made a real effort.

"There was only one day we were going to do it on- Star Wars day. And I happened to be off work that day too, which was fortunate.

"It was a wonderful day and even the vicar joined in. His name is Chris Lee which was also very fitting as Christopher Lee played Count Dooku in Episode's II and III.

The security officer reignited his relationship with Val, a care assistant at a nursing home, through Facebook around four years ago following a school reunion.

He added: "I thought we went out as kids but Val thinks otherwise - but I got there in the end.
