WASHINGTON _ Senate Minority Leader Charles E. Schumer announced that with Sen. John McCain's passing, he would seek to rename the Senate's oldest office building for the late GOP senator from Arizona.
"Nothing will overcome the loss of Senator McCain, but so that generations remember him I will be introducing a resolution to rename the Russell building after him," the Democrat from New York said in a statement.
The facility, which is the oldest Senate Office Building, currently bears the name of the late Sen. Richard B. Russell, a Georgia segregationist Democrat.
