Schumer ‘appalled’ by Rand Paul's call to out whistleblower

Senate Minority Leader Charles E. Schumer took to the Senate floor Tuesday to condemn Sen. Rand Paul’s, R-Ky., call on “the media” to publish the name of the whistleblower Monday night. Paul’s challenge echoes similar assertions from President Trump that press outlets know the identity of the whistleblower at the center of the House impeachment inquiry, despite no evidence that journalists have uncovered the individual’s identity. In his Tuesday floor speech, Schumer called the comments “appalling” and stressed the importance of laws protecting federal whistleblowers.
