Schroder reportedly participated in light practice, “seemed fine”

Dennis Schroder reportedly participated in a light practice on Saturday but his status for Sunday’s game against the San Antonio Spurs is still up in the air.

Schroder rolled his ankle midway through the third quarter of Oklahoma City’s 113-101 win over the Denver Nuggets on Friday night. The injury occurred as he was guarding Will Barton near midcourt. When Barton changed direction, both he and Schroder slipped at the edge of the Thunder logo, and Schroder stayed down for a few seconds holding his ankle.

He left the game but did return minutes later and finished the night with 11 points.

According to Maddie Lee of The Oklahoman, the Thunder’s practice consisted primarily of walkthroughs that didn’t include contact or running, so Schroder was able to participate to some extent.

Billy Donovan called Schroder a “complete warrior”, and told Sports Illustrated that his guard “seemed fine”.

Donovan also told Lee “once we do some stuff tomorrow at the arena, we’ll have a better idea of where he’s at.”

Should Schroder not be able to go, it could open up minutes for Hamidou Diallo who has not seen much action since Lu Dort became part of the regular rotation midway through January.

Oklahoma City is back at home on Sunday when they host the San Antonio Spurs.
