Schools are currently set to remain open following the death of the Queen with new guidance set to be given to headteachers.
Headteachers will be told whether they can close by the Department for Education (DfE), it has been reported. Pupils are likely to be allowed to observe the official national day of mourning for the Queen's death, which will be the day of her funeral.
But whether schools remain closed for the entire mourning period, or just partially, remains to be seen.

The documents for Operation London Bridge show that the government will not order companies to give their staff the day off but it will be expected that the country takes a day off in remembrance.
However, the country will be expected to take a day off in remembrance of Queen Elizabeth II. Those who do not work in an essential service will likely be off work.
This will essentially be a bank holiday but an extra day off will not be granted if the funeral falls on a weekend or a pre-existing bank holiday. Reports suggest the Queen's funeral will take place on September 19 which will be a Monday.
