Schools reopen in Andhra Pradesh amid strict Covid guidelines

AMARAVATI: The schools in the state are set to reopen on Monday.

The state government has decided to commence off-line classes for all standards. Notwithstanding apprehensions about the spread of Covid third wave, the government has decided to reopen the schools in order to provide better learning experiences to children in class room.

The state government, however, directed district collectors and district educational officers to constantly review the Covid-19 situation in respective areas and take appropriate measures to safeguard the lives of the children and the teachers.

The government directed all the DEOs to ensure the implementation of Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) in schools while keeping an eye on the Covid positivity rate in the neighbourhood.

“The local village/ward secretariat area should be taken as perimeter to assess the positivity rate and take a call whether to continue the classes in that particular area. The schools will remain open in the areas where the covid-19 positive cases are low,” said education principal secretary Budithi Rajasekhar.

Headmasters have been advised not to compromise on Covid-19 appropriate behaviour and have been told to focus on the classes lost during the last academic year and cover the lessons to make the students fall in line.
