Schools can book free visits to RHS Garden Bridgewater

Schools are being urged to book free visits to the new RHS Garden Bridgewater opening in Salford.

The 154-acre garden, at the former Worsley New Hall estate, will be the first ever RHS Garden in an urban area and will feature a four-acre Woodland Play as one of its highlights.

With 'fantastic facilities' including a bespoke learning studio and Peel Learning Garden, it's being billed as 'the perfect place to bring pupils'.

The new attraction will offer workshops for primary and secondary schools (RHS Garden Bridgewater)

All activities are interactive and practical with a focus on learning through play, exploration, working together and asking questions.

Schools can take pupils along for guided visits to enjoy educational workshops, or smaller groups of children can enjoy self-guided visits, with resources 'covering many parts of the school curriculum including art, numeracy and the natural world'.

The site, off Leigh Road in Worsley, was due to open last year, but it was delayed due to Covid and will now open to the public on Tuesday, May 18.

We reported on Monday how from May 25, all Salford residents will be able to visit the stunning garden for free on Tuesdays for a year.

Schools are being welcomed from June 7 onwards but are being urged to book their tickets now by emailing schoolsbridgewater@rhs.org.uk.

Safety measures will be in place to support children to visit the place safely during Covid-19.
