Schoolgirls get vocal about helping the homeless

A pair of big-hearted pals raised over £150 to help homeless people.

Leah McKay (8) and her friend Tay Telford (6), both pupils at Broxburn Primary School, spent their time on Christmas Eve going door-to-door carol singing in Broxburn to raise money for Edinburgh-based charity Steps to Hope.

Leah’s aunt, Gail Purves said: “Both girls are quite thoughtful kids. Leah decided that she wanted to go carol singing for the first time and asked a friend to join her.

“The kids’ mums suggested raising money for a charity and gave the girls options. The money is going to Steps to Hope from Edinburgh, who provide shower packs to allow homeless people to have showers at their soup kitchen.”
