Schoolgirls found 'distressed' in park as boy arrested on suspicion of sexual assault

A 15-year-old boy was arrested on suspicion of sexual assault after two schoolgirls were found in a "distressed state" in a Liverpool park.

At around 6.10pm on Sunday, police received a report that two 15-year-old girls had been found in a park on Score Lane in Childwall.

The girls were described as being in a "distressed state" and were taken to hospital.

Merseyside Police said enquires were carried out and a 15-year-old boy was arrested on suspicion of sexual assault.

He has been taken to a police station for questioning.

The park on Score Lane remains cordoned off by officers today as detectives continue with their investigation.

A spokesperson from Merseyside Police said: "We have arrested a male following an incident in Childwall yesterday (Sunday, 6 June).

"At around 6.10pm, a report was received of two 15-year-old girls being found at a park on Score Lane. Both girls were reportedly in a distressed state and were taken to hospital.

"Following enquiries, a 15-year-old boy was arrested on suspicion of sexual assault. He has been taken for questioning.

"An investigation is underway and anyone with information is asked to get in touch.


"Forensic, CCTV and witness enquiries are ongoing and a cordon remains is in place while detectives investigate.
