Schoolgirl's moving tribute to war heroes turned into Remembrance song

A schoolgirl who penned an award-winning tribute to war heroes has seen her poem turned into song.

Sophie Henderson, 12, won the Poppy Scotland Learning Award for her work entitled ‘In Future Fields’.

Now Sophie, of Troon, has teamed up with Prestwick musician Scott Nicol – of Possibility Screams – to set the words to music.

Sophie’s inspiration came from John McCrae’s famous poem, ‘In Flanders Fields,’ and her emotive response to this is her way of giving soldiers back their voice, including that of her Great Grandpa, who died in the war.

Lead vocals came from Sophie with Gillian Foster on backing vocals .

Scott played guitar with Sam Gallagher playing all other instruments as well as engineering the track, which was recorded at Glasgow’s Essgee Productions Studio.
