Schoolgirl rushed to hospital after another pupil put 'medication' in drink

A schoolgirl ended up in hospital after another pupil put 'medication' in her drink.

Broadoak School in Partington, Trafford, confirmed the incident on Friday is being investigated.

It is understood the young student was given a fruit drink containing some form of 'medication'.

She drank it before being violently sick.

An ambulance was called to the school just before 3pm. Paramedics called police shortly after arriving.

A spokesman for the North West Ambulance Service was unable to provide further detail, but said that patient was taken to hospital.

Broadoak head Lee McConaghie said 'appropriate and proportionate action' had been taken.

"The safeguarding of children is paramount," he added.

"There was an incident on Friday which is being investigated and we have taken appropriate and proportionate action as we always would.

"I cannot comment further on the circumstances of the incident."

The girl is believed to have made a full recovery and is back at school.

It is understood the incident is not thought to have been malicious.

A spokesman for GMP said it was also being looked into by officers.

They added: "We received a call from the ambulance service at 3.06pm on Friday to reports of a pupil vomiting after drinking a substance at school.

"Enquiries are ongoing."
