Schoolgirl ran away after stranger approached her in Llanelli town centre

Police are appealing for information following an incident where a schoolgirl was left “unnerved” after she was approached by an unknown male in a town centre street.

The incident happened on Thursday afternoon in Bres Road in Llanelli.

Officers said the girl ran away from the scene, and police now want to speak to the male involved.

He has been described as around 16 or 17 years of age, with ginger hair. At the time of the incident he was wearing a grey jacket and dark trousers.

How you should warn children about strangers:

A spokeswoman for Dyfed-Powys Police said: “We are appealing for witnesses to an incident in which a schoolgirl was approached by an unknown male in Bres Road, Llanelli, between 3pm and 3.20pm on Thursday, October 3.

“The girl felt unnerved by the incident and ran towards Murray Street. The male did not follow her.

“Anyone who was in the Bres Street, or nearby Upper Robinson Street or Murray Street areas at the time and either witnessed the exchange or saw a male matching the description is asked to contact Dyfed-Powys Police by calling 101."
