Girl hit by van outside Scots school as road shut down by emergency services

An 11-year-old girl has been hit by a van near a Scots school with the road closed off by emergency services.

She was struck by the vehicle on Sorbie Road, Ardrossan, close to Ardrossan Academy.

Emergency services responded to the incident at around 8.45am on Monday November 1, according to Police Scotland.

Several ambulances are believed to have been seen at the scene and it is thought that the victim was removed from the area at around 9.15am.

Emergency services remain in the area and the road is still closed.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 8.45am on Monday, 1 November, officers were called to the Sorbie Road area of Ardrossan, following a report of a crash involving a van and an 11-year-old girl pedestrian.

"Emergency services remain at the scene and the road is currently closed.”

"Enquiries remain ongoing."

The Scottish Ambulance Service have been approached for comment.
