Police are on the hunt for an armed and masked man who threatened and tried to rob two 14-year-olds.
A schoolgirl and her male friend were walking on a footpath at Range Road, Motherwell, around 10pm last Wednesday (April 24). When they were near the junction with Morven Drive, they were approached by a tall, slim man (thought to be around 6ft1) wearing a dark jacket and a black mask.
He was holding a hammer or a mallet and threatened the children, demanding money.

The youngsters were able to run off to a nearby house for help and the man left empty-handed.
Detectives at Wishaw CID are appealing for any witnesses to come forward.
A spokesperson for Police Scotland said: “Were you in this area at that time? Possibly walking your dog? Were you passing in your car, or returning home?
If you seen anything or anyone acting suspiciously please contact Wishaw CID on 101 quoting Incident 4474 of the 24th of April."
