Schoolboy taken to Alder Hey after hit and run outside primary school

A schoolboy was taken to hospital after a hit and run outside a primary school on Friday.

The incident took place at around 3.40pm on High Park Street in Dingle , close to St Silas Church of England Primary School.

It is believed that the young child was hit by a blue Jaguar XF that did not stop at the scene.

Emergency services were called to the road and the boy was taken to Alder Hey as a precaution.

A spokesperson for Merseyside Police told the ECHO : "We were called to High Park Street in Dingle at 3.40pm to reports that a young child had been involved in a collision with a blue Jaguar XF.

"The boy was taken to hospital to be checked over but did not sustain any injuries.

"We are appealing for witnesses or the driver to come forward."

A road closure is currently in place on High Park Street according to travel sit INRIX.
