A kind-hearted schoolboy has set up his own food bank in the hope it will inspire others to donate to those in need this Christmas.
Max Lewis, seven, from Bridgend, south Wales, decided to make the gesture in the hope his kindness would spread throughout the festive season.
Proud mum Claire Lewis, said: "He said to me 'if somebody sees one person be kind then they will be kind too.
“We have had to put a box outside our house because so many people have been dropping stuff off for us.
“It is incredible how many people have been dropping stuff off. It really shows how generous people are."
Claire added that one man turned up to their house with a car boot full of food to donate, and Max even had a special donation from the local police.
Max has been collecting food in the run-up to Christmas for the past three years as part of a reverse advent calendar.
Reverse advent calendars work by putting an item into a box each day of December so they can be taken to a food bank to help those struggling over the festive period.
But this year Max's generosity has started to spread and he is now collecting donations from people all over his hometown.
Max donated the items to the North Cornelly Community Church food bank this week.
His mum added: "The section under the stairs is full of boxes of food ready to be donated. I am so proud of him,"
Max's 10-year-old sister Emmie Lewis has also been inspired by her brother's generosity and has been asking people to donate dog food to the collection too.
Despite being so young, Claire said Max really understands the importance of supporting others in this way.
"All year around he is always helping choose items to donate to the food bank when we are at the supermarket.
"When people drop stuff off he will talk to them about the donation and what it will mean to people who use foodbanks."
