Schoolboy rushed to hospital in serious condition after hit and run

A teenager was rushed to hospital with a serious arm injury after being hit by a driver who fled the scene.

Emergency services were called to the junction of Hatton Hill Road and Sefton Road in Litherland at around 1pm on Saturday April 24, after reports of a crash involving a car and a fifteen-year-old boy.

The boy, who was on a bicycle at the time of the collision, was taken to hospital with a serious arm injury.

The driver failed to stop, or provide any details, and police enquiries to track the driver down are ongoing.

Matrix Roads Policing Inspector Stuart McIver said: “To leave the scene of any accident is a serious matter, and we’re keen to trace the driver to assist our enquiries, and speak to any witnesses to this collision. Thankfully the boy involved is recovering.

“If you were passing the location and saw or captured the incident or the vehicle involved, send any information, CCTV or dashcam footage to us and we will take action.”

Anyone who witnessed the incident or has any information is asked to call the Matrix Roads Policing Unit on (0151) 7775747, email rpiu@merseyside.police.uk or contact @MerPolCC on Twitter quoting reference 21000261791.
