Schoolboy rushed to hospital after being struck by car in East Kilbride

A schoolboy was rushed to hospital after being hit by a car in East Kilbride.

Emergency services raced to Calderwood Road in the town following the incident, which took place around 3:25pm yesterday (November 29).

The 12-year-old boy was subsequently taken by ambulance to hospital for treatment to his injuries, Lanarkshire Live reports.

Police Scotland have confirmed that the female driver of the car will be reported in connection with alleged road traffic offences.

In the meantime, they are asking anyone with any information of dashcam footage of the area at the time of the incident to contact them.

A Police Scotland spokeswoman said: “Around 3.25pm on Monday, we were called to the Calderwood Road area of East Kilbride following a report of a crash involving a car and a pedestrian.

“The pedestrian, a 12-year-old boy, was taken to hospital for treatment. The female driver of the car will be reported in connection with road traffic offences.”

Anyone with any information or dashcam footage of the area at that time, should contact police on 101. Information can be left anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
