Boy, 15, arrested after man stabbed in head, chest, legs, hands and arms

A schoolboy is suspected of being behind a frenzied knife attack in a Bootle park - police said after confirming his arrest today.

Emergency services were called to North Park on Sunday afternoon after a 21-year-old man was found with wounds to his chest, abdomen, head, buttocks, legs, hands and arms.

His condition was initially described as "serious but not life threatening" but police stressed today he remains stable in hospital.

And a spokesman confirmed a 15-year-old boy from Bootle has been arrested over the attack.

The boy was arrested after voluntarily walking into a police station.

A Merseyside Police  spokesman said: "A 15-year-old male from Bootle voluntarily attended a police station and was arrested on suspicion of a section 18 assault and released on conditional bail."

Detectives have said they believe the daylight attack was targeted .

The 21-year-old victim was found covered in blood in the park at around 2.30pm after officers received reports of an assault.

Merseyside Police sealed off the entire park for several hours on Sunday night, with forensics officers examining the scene.

A large section of neighbouring Hornby Road was also cordoned off, with neighbours voicing their concern at attack on their doorstep.
