Schoolboy Lucas Logan gave his family and neighbours a history lesson to mark VE Day.
Lucas (10) is a junior volunteer at the Military Museum Scotland at Wilkieston and he passed on what he has learned, speaking for three hours about his collection of memorabilia.
Lucas, a pupil at Williamston Primary, also helped to raise over £100 for the museum with his gran and brother Harrison, who is 16 and has additional support needs.
His mum Cheryl explained: “Lucas is a junior volunteer at the Military Museum Scotland because he’s there so much.
“Most of his wearable collection is from Soldier or Fortune, but he does have some original items from WW1 and WW2.
“His main interest is WW1 and he wanted to do a virtual VE Day as the VE weekend planned at the museum
had to be cancelled and he was going to be involved. Then he came up with the idea of inviting the neighbours and family to the two-minute silence which he started and finished with his original WW2 whistle.
“And, ever the showman, he thought he could spread some WW1 knowledge and practise his re-enactment skills by showing off his collection.
“His gran made cakes, his brother Harrison asked for a donation and they raised £126 for the museum.
“Lucas stood for three hours, talking everyone through his collection.
“I don’t think the neighbours realised how knowledgeable he was as they all left amazed. They were laughing as he added a few funny stories and facts in.
“Everyone was so proud of him.”
