A schoolboy had to receive hospital treatment after being assaulted outside Helensburgh Central train station at the weekend.
Around 10.25pm on Saturday night, the 15-year-old was approached by two people and attacked, leaving him with a facial injury.
Detectives are appealing for information on the incident.
In particular, officers would like to speak to two youths, one male, one female, seen in the area at the time. The male was wearing a khaki jumper and black trousers.
The female was wearing a black Nike top, with light grey leggings.
Detective Constable Imran Abuzar said: “This attack was completely unprovoked and it’s imperative we trace those responsible. Enquiries so far have revealed there were a number of people in the area, some of whom came to the teenager’s aid.
“Officers are keen to speak to members of the public who can help with enquiries. Anyone with information is asked to call Police Scotland via 101, quoting incident number 4315 on August 14, or make a call anonymously to the charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
