Schoolboy hospitalised after crash in Lanarkshire town has been released

A 12-year-old boy hospitalised after being hit by a car on Monday has been released.

The schoolboy was taken to Wishaw General following the incident in East Kilbride.

We told you yesterday how emergency services rushed to Calderwood Road in the town following the incident.

At that time it was believed that a cyclist was hit - however, we now know that it was a child pedestrian that was hit.

Police Scotland have confirmed that a woman has now been reported to the Procurator Fiscal following the accident.

A local police source told Lanarkshire Live : “The 12-year-old boy was struck by a vehicle and taken to Wishaw General.

“He suffered minor injuries and has since been released after treatment.

“A 36-year-old female driver has been reported in relation to road traffic offences.”

Anyone with any information or dashcam footage of the area at that time, should contact police on 101.

Information can be left anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
