Travel monitoring site Inrix says Queens Road has now cleared, after being partially blocked due to the accident on Hawkshead Street, and that traffic is coping well.

North West Ambulance Service confirmed a teenage boy was taken to hospital, and that he appears to have been riding a bike at the time of the collision.

Their spokeswoman told the ECHO they were called to Queens Road at 8.14am
