Schoolboy found 30 miles from home after going missing

A boy who went missing on his way home from school on Thursday turned up nearly 30 miles from home, police say.

The lad, aged 8, was at the centre of a public appeal by the PSNI after he failed to get off at his usual bus stop in the Antrim area.

In a post on the PSNI Antrim Facebook page, the police thanked the public for helping find the schoolboy.

They said: “Yesterday I posted about our missing boy Ryan. Thanks to the amount of you who saw the post and shared it, Ryan was located within about an hour of it being shared.

"Young Ryan was nearly 30 miles from his home address! He was spotted by a vigilant member of the public who had seen the information online and contacted police.

“So thank you for sharing the post, thank you for looking out for our Ryan and for getting him home safe. His parents are so grateful for the support and help.”
