A schoolboy was bundled into a car by a gang, choked and knocked unconscious.
Merseyside Police said it was reported at around 11.10pm on Tuesday, June 6, that the 16-year-old boy was forced into a car on Orrell Lane in Bootle and then beaten by a group of men.
The victim was punched, choked and knocked unconscious during the attack, which is believed to have been a case of mistaken identity.

He was let out the car on Alexandra Road and returned home, having suffered facial injuries. A police spokesperson said: "It's believed the incident was a case of mistaken identity and the suspects had been trying to target someone else.
"Our enquiries are ongoing into this incident and we are determined to find the people involved. The suspects are described as wearing all black clothing and were driving a black vehicle."
Detective Inspector Samantha Davies said: “This would have been a frightening and traumatic experience for the victim.
“We are taking this incident extremely seriously and we are determined to find the people involved in this incident. If anyone has any information about what happened, please come forward.
“If you saw this incident, please let us know. If you live in the area, please check your CCTV or smart doorbell footage to see if you captured anything at the time of this incident.”
