A high school student attacked a fellow pupil and then a teacher during an aggressive outburst which ended with police being called to the scene.

Officers were called to The Mosslands School, in Wallasey, on Tuesday afternoon shortly after 2pm following reports of a disturbance.

Merseyside Police were told that a child had begun behaving aggressively before assaulting another student.

When he was approached and challenged by a member of staff he assaulted them as well.

The force have confirmed that no one was injured during the incident and it will be followed up by their schools officer.

In a statement, a spokesperson for the force said: "We can confirm officers attended a school in Wallasey following a report of a disturbance this afternoon (Tuesday 13 October).

"We were called to Mosslands School on Mosslands Drive just before 2.10pm to a report a pupil was behaving aggressively and had assaulted a fellow pupil.

"When challenged, the boy assaulted a member of staff.

"There are no reports of any injuries at this stage and further enquiries will be carried out by a Merseyside Police Schools Officer."
