Schoolboy assaulted by older pupils during lunch break

Police are investigating an assault on a 12-year-old schoolboy.

Officers have confirmed to Lanarkshire Live that the youngster, who attends a secondary school in the Rutherglen and Cambuslang area, was attacked by two older pupils during his lunch break. The incident took place near to Holmhills Park.

Lanarkshire Live understands that videos showing the attack have since been circulated among other pupils, and that some parents have subsequently contacted the school to raise concerns regarding pupil safety.

A police source said: "A 12 year-old pupil was assaulted by two 13-year-old pupils. They have now been identified and the shift dealing with the incident will progress the enquiry and speak with them in the presence of their parents."

South Lanarkshire Council did not respond to our requests for a comment regarding the attack.
