A school boy has been arrested and charged in connection with two serious sexual assaults in Grangemouth.
Police said the 15-year-old was arrested following alleged attacks on two 14-year-old and 16-year-old girls.
Officers were called to Ritchie Place in the town on Friday following a report of a serious sexual assault and they were then notified about another attack on a teenager in Zetland Park on the 16th October.
It's understood the 14-year-old victim disclosed to police she had been the victim of an alleged sexual assault over a month ago while they were investigating another incident over the weekend.
A source said: "The first incident only came to light during investigations into an alleged sexual assault on Friday night in the town.
"Officers were notified and it became apparent the two incidents were linked.
"A short time later officers arrested a young boy on suspicion of serious sexual assault and later charged him.
"There is no risk to the wider public."
A police spokeswoman said: "Police Scotland can confirm that a 15-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with two serious sexual assaults in Grangemouth.
"The first incident occurred on the 16-17th October in Zetlander Park and a 14-year-old girl was seriously sexually assaulted.
"The second incident occurred on 27 November a 16-year-old girl was seriously sexually assaulted in Ritchie Place.
"The man is expected to appear at Falkirk Sheriff Court today."
