Schoolboy airlifted to hospital after being knocked off bike

A schoolboy was airlifted to hospital after being knocked off his bike during a crash.

Police and paramedics were called to the scene on Flatt Lane in Ellesmere Port at around 3.30pm on Thursday, September 9.

A 16 year old boy was riding his bike when he was involved in a crash with a white Mercedes van.

An air ambulance is understood to have landed on a school field nearby.

North West Ambulance Service said the boy was flown to hospital with a head injury.

A spokesperson for the ambulance service said: "We responded to an RTC involving and a van and bicycle on Flatt Lane, Ellesmere Port, following a 999 call at 15.20.

"The cyclist, a teenage boy, has been airlifted to hospital with a head injury."

Cheshire Police said: "Officers were called to Flatt Lane at 3.30pm on Thursday 9 September following reports of a collision involving a white Mercedes van and a bicycle.

"The rider of the bike, a 16-year-old boy, was taken to hospital for further checks. Anyone with information is asked to contact Cheshire Police on 101 quoting IML 1081030 or report it here. "
