A 15-year-old boy died in hospital two days after being found at home, an inquest opening heard.

Taj Champenois died on February 24 at the Noah's Ark Children's Hospital in Cardiff after being found hanging at his home in Roath on February 22.

At an inquest opening at Pontypridd Coroners' Court on Tuesday coroner David Regan said: "I was very saddened to hear of Taj's death. I wish to express my condolences to the members of his family."

The court heard that a post-mortem examination was carried out with a cause of death given as 1a. hypoxic ischemic brain injury and 1b. hanging.

The hearing was adjourned for a full inquest to take place on July 12, 2022, with a delay due to the pandemic. Mr Regan said he hoped investigations will take place before that date.
