A 14-year-old boy was attacked while walking home from school.
The assault took place in Victoria Park in St Helens close to the entrance with Bishop Road. In a post on Facebook, one woman said that a group of boys appeared to be "jumping on" the 14-year-old.
Speaking to the ECHO the boy's mum said that he was assaulted by seven high school students while on his way home and that the matter is now being dealt with by the police.

A spokesperson for Merseyside Police said: "We can confirm that an investigation is ongoing following the assault of a teenage boy in St Helens on Monday, 27 February. At around 3.40pm, a third-party report was received of a 14-year-old boy being assaulted in Victoria Park, close to the entrance at Bishop Road.
"Enquiries are ongoing to establish the circumstances and anyone with information is asked to contact @MerPolCC with reference 23000170872."
