A school has closed an entire year group because of 'staffing issues'.
All pupils were due to return to Haveley Hey Community School in Benchill, Wythenshawe, today, but its two Year 6 classes have been told to stay home.
Parents received a message from school on Monday stating: "I am very sorry, but Year 6 will not to open to pupils tomorrow or Wednesday. This is due to significant staffing issues.
"We have considered all the options and are closing the year group as a last resort.
"I hope to have something in place for Thursday and will keep you updated."

A parent of one of the pupils told us she understands why the move is necessary, but it doesn't make it any easier for pupils and their families.
"I work at a different school so I have to get my mum to be with my daughter," she said.
"We have work posted for the children on the class dojo, but it's not the same as being in school."

The closure comes as headteachers are warning of weeks of potential disruption as schools return amid rocketing Omicron cases.
As coronavirus infection rates continue to rocket, school leaders in Greater Manchester have spoken of their battle to stay open in the new terms following reported high levels of staff Covid absences.
The Government has reintroduced some measures to support schools, including the recommendation that masks be worn in secondary classrooms, plans to provide 7,000 air cleaning units to schools and college, and a get-out for Ofsted inspectors so they can focus on teaching.
Many headteachers have already put in place back-up plans for home schooling and virtual lessons as cases of Covid continue to rip like wildfire through the workforce.
