School uniform compulsory in Kerala from December 13

T’PURAM: Education minister V Sivankutty on Saturday said uniforms would be made compulsory in schools from December 13.

The decision, said the minister, was to clear the confusion regarding the identity of the school students while using facilities such as bus fare concession. Schools for the differently-abled and school hostels can resume on December 8, he said. Differently-abled students of general schools can also start attending classes at schools from December 8.

According to the Sivankutty, the government has decided to sanction 72 additional Plus One batches given the report that schools in 21 taluks faced seat shortage. The new batches would comprise 61 science batches, 61 humanities batches and 10 commerce batches.
