School tells whole year group to stay at home after positive coronavirus case

Students are being told to stay at home following a positive coronavirus case at a Leigh school.

Parents were told on Friday evening (September 18) that a Year 10 student at Bedford High School had tested positive for Covid-19.

The whole year group - described as 'the bubble' - is now required to stay at home on Monday (September 21) 'as a precaution', the school confirmed today.

On Monday, the school will take more advice from public health authorities and provide another update for parents, say staff.

All other year groups should attend Bedford High as normal until further notice.

In a statement posted on the school's Facebook page, staff said: "We have been informed on the evening of Friday 18th September that one of our year 10 students has tested positive for Covid-19.

"As a precaution we require all Year 10 students (the bubble) to stay at home on Monday 21st September.

"This is in line with advice given by Public Health to other schools in the same position.

"We will take further advice on Monday 21st September and contact you again with more information.

"All other year groups should attend as normal on Monday."
